Dr. Mark Gaspar is a post-doctoral fellow at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, working with Dr. Daniel Grace on the Engage and the HPV-SAVE study. Gaspar completed his doctoral work at Concordia University in Montréal in an interdisciplinary program with a focus on sociological research, qualitative methods, critical social theory, HIV/AIDS, sexuality and working with vulnerable populations. He is also a two-time fellow of the University Without Walls program, a training program for the next generation of HIV/AIDS researchers in Canada. Gaspar’s doctoral work involved conducting in-depth qualitative interviews with 33 HIV-negative gay men living in Toronto and Montréal to understand their experiences related to managing HIV serostatus uncertainty. Gaspar’s primary role with Engage is working on the qualitative research studies, including a Toronto sub-study on mental health and mental health service access for gbMSM.
