The Engage team held their second annual pre-CAHR session on May 12, 2016 in Winnipeg. Over 40 researchers, community members and decision makers participated in the day-long session. The morning was spent updating the team on progress, including the set-up of Community Engagement Committees, the questionnaire and the website. Break-out groups allowed participants to focus on areas of interest, including specific paper topics and Knowledge Transfer and Exchange. We also heard from the leads of five implementation science funded projects that relate to gay men’s health. The team hopes we can maximize resources by combing some of the Engage intervention planning, with recently funded implementation science projects.
The afternoon session was dedicated to training the students involved with Engage. The Vancouver team presented workshops on Respondent Driven Sampling and Event Level Analysis – both topics are integral to the Engage study.
After the CAHR reception, the Engage team partner with Health Initiative for Men to host a social. gbMSM and their allies gathered for a social at a local queer bar, where an exciting Lip Sync battle took place. The Engage team socials are developing a reputation as ‘must-attend’ CAHR events.
